Equivalent fractions

Today we investigated how fractions are equivalent or equal to each other. We used a fraction wall.
We then looked for patterns between the numerators and the denominators.

Conjunction junction

Today we played, conjunction junction, a team game, where each person in the team has a different conjunction written on their whiteboard. Two sentences appear on the board and as a team the children talk about which conjunctions make sense joining the two sentences together. The time counts down and the teams make their decisions.
We then had a go writing our own compound sentence using different conjunctions.

Dying fabric

We used natural dyes made from onion skins and red cabbage to dye some white cotton today. We discussed how Bronze Age man would have discovered which plants and vegetables would make the best dyes. We thought they might have found out by accident! We also watched a BBC clip about how   they made wool to make warm clothes from sheep fleece. It's harder than it looks!

Dazzling Daffodils!

We popped to the park today to see how our daffodil bulbs were getting on. Look how much they've grown! Some of them are in flower too!
